NIGHTHAWK AND MAGHREB RECEIVED BY THE PRESIDENT

(SPS) On 14 September 2006, the President of the SADR, HE Mohamed Abdelaziz received at the SADR presidency Mr. Frederik Dekker Director of Maghreb Exploration and Dr. Roger Norwich Director of Nighthawk Energy Limited.

During the ceremony the SADR president handed over the ratification papers of the accords signed between the SADR and three oil companies: Maghreb Exploration, Nighthawk Energy and Osceola Hydrocarbon Limited.

The Ceremony was attended from the Saharawi side by Mr. Mohamed Sidati, member of the Polisario leadership and minister in charge of Europe, Mr. Yahia Bouhoubeini, President of the Saharawi Red Crescent, Mr. Kamal Fadel, Polisario Representative to Australia and Bachir Sgheir, Councellor at the Presidency.

In accordance with these accords, the three British oil companies will undertake exploration operations in the Bojador block.

In statements to the press, the two British Directors expressed their satisfaction about the meetings they had with the Saharawi Government. “We came here to establish close relations of friendship and cooperation with the SADR and to express our readiness to participate to the reconstruction of the independent Saharawi Republic”, Mr. Frederik Dekker said.

Besides these three oil companies, five other companies had signed similar accords in other regions of the Western Sahara, mainly in: Haouza, Mahbes, Bir Lehlu, Hagounia, Mijek, Laguera and Guelta. The mentioned companies are Premier Oil Limited, Ophir Energy company Limited, Europa Oil and Gas plc, and Comet Petroleum Limited. (SPS)
