HANNO RESOURCES PRESENTS FINDING OF TCA

On 6 July 2011 Hanno Resources Limited (formerly Excalibur Resources Group Limited) presented the results of the 4 year mineral Technical Cooperation Agreement (TCA) to the President HE Mohamed Abdelaziz and other distinguished members of the SADR Government. Their results suggest that the SADR is highly prospective for iron ore, gold and base metals and uranium.

In completing the TCA Hanno undertook work in four main areas:

Reconnaissance of Regional Mineral Exploration Activity

  • Investigation of mineral exploration activity in neighbouring Mauritania, Algeria and in the Occupied Territories of the SADR
  • Identification of significant mineral trends likely to be found in the SADR

Remote Sensing and Geological Interpretation Based on Satellite Imagery

  • Geological mapping of the Liberated Territories of the SADR based on the interpretation of Landsat ETM +7 satellite imagery
  • Identification of potential iron ore and gossan exploration targets based on spectral interpretation of Landsat ETM +7 satellite imagery
  • Mapping of identified iron ore exploration targets based on high-resolution QuickBird satellite imagery
  • Mapping of potential gold and base metals targets based on multi-spectral ASTER satellite imagery

Field Visits, Sample Collection and Geochemical Analysis

  • Undertook three field visits to the Liberated Territories of the SADR during the TCA in November 2009, October-November 2010 and April-May 2011
  • Ground-truthing of the geological mapping based on satellite imagery
  • Investigation of the iron ore and gossan exploration targets identified from spectral analysis
  • Collected rock chip samples for geochemical analysis of iron ore, uranium, gold and base metals
  • Collected soil samples for geochemical analysis of gold and base metals
  • Collected hand specimen samples for mineralogical investigation in thin section
  • Collected iron ore rock chip samples for Davies Tube Recovery (DTR) beneficiation testwork

Hydrogeology

  • Report on the Evaluation of Potential Groundwater Sources in the northern Liberated Territories of the SADR completed by Golder Associates
  • Study of the Environmental Hydrogeology of Western Sahara completed in association with the University of Western Australia
